1. AR Book Finder -- Suggest quiz (top right corner). You will receive an email when the quiz is available.

2. AR -- Literacy Skills Quiz, Vocabulary list and quiz, Teacher’s Guides
(Log in to AR.  Under Accelerated Reader, click “Manage Quizzes.” Choose “Literacy Skills.” Select a book. On left, click “View Teacher’s Guide.”) 

3. Destiny searches (our online library catalog).

4. Links to local libraries (public and college libraries).  Also, Book Discussion Group Sets notebook available. Lists sets can be borrowed from around the state; lists our local titles with 3+ copies.

6. Kids’ Ebooks State Library
  • Britannica E-Stax features nonfiction. *Classroom use allowed.
  • Scholastic BookFlix pairs video fiction books with nonfiction ebooks and includes related activities.
    *NO CURRICULAR USE
  • Other great kids' books available on the free web: Storyline Online, United for Literacy. Nonfiction articles available through Time for Kids, Dogo, and National Geographic Kids.

  • What is a database? subscription-based, reliable, helpful for students and adults. Content: magazine and journal articles, books, encyclopedias, photos, images, videos
  • can help us meet Common Core Standards
○ more short research projects (or could be a good “center” activity)
○ more nonfiction 
○ looking for articles in a specific reading level (Lexile)
○ locating different types of text/media on a common topic
○ cite sources (bibliography, works cited)

  • Encyclopedia Britannica Online -- Elementary, middle, and high school versions available, so articles can be read at a variety of reading levels. Excellent articles, videos, diagrams, and more. Suggests best websites.
  • Explora – EBSCO database searches magazines, journals, ebooks, images. Mixture of academic and popular magazines: Consumer Reports, Time, Newsweek, National Geographic Explorer, Highlights, Cricket, Ladybug, Weekly Reader, Scholastic News, etc.

○ Can narrow by Lexile level, type of resource, etc.
